Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone from our house to yours.

We're having a very small gathering this year but I have here for you a picture of our Thanksgiving Dinner last year showing the magnificent bird our oldest son Buddy raised for our feast. He has since moved to Alabama to be with his family and our oldest daughter, Lori will stay in Arkansas this year so with Punkin and baby boy Jake off hunting and Shari having dinner with her in-laws, Picacilly is doing our cooking this year! But regardless of the size of the gathering, large or small we all as Americans have so very much to be thankful for.

Dear Lord,
As we gather together around this table
laden with your plentiful gifts to us,
we thank You for always providing
what we really need
and for sometimes granting wishes
for things we don’t really need.
Today, let us be especially thankful
for each other--for family and friends
who enrich our lives in wonderful ways,
even when they present us with challenges.
Let us join together now
in peaceful, loving fellowship
to celebrate Your love for us
and our love for each other. Amen.

What a wonderful day for families to enjoy a meal and one of the few days where we all eat together at the table and reminisce about the past year and past Thanksgiving Dinners.

I could go for this...how 'bout you?

I think this is the first time I've seen a square Turkey Platter. Maybe it is just a dinner plate? If it were mine, I'd probably hang it on the wall.

And uh... could this be Mrs. Rockwell calling Norman and the gang in to dinner perhaps

Not the most elegant and certainly not the most simple, but to me it just says "family" and speaks of home like someone has gone to a great deal of effort in making a nice meal and a pretty table(sourced from the internet)

Another stuffed bird but no finer than the one at the top I'd say!

Rockwell Painting titled "A Pilgrims Progress" and it looks like the bird may win!

Run Tom, Run!

And probably the most famous of all Rockwell's Thanksgiving scenes ...the All American Family enjoying God's Bounty.

I also want to thank all of you for being the best blogging buddies ever! You bless me with your visits and your comments.
