Happy Pink Saturday

It's that time of the week again and Miss Beverly asked us to share some of our Christmas Traditions.

Three traditions we have enjoyed in the past are three that just won't be happening this year.

1. I almost always make Chilli for Christmas Eve and have for at least 30 years, but this year it will be Chicken 'n Dumplins. Why you ask.............. Well it seems that mizmollye has developed a nasty little condition known as Acid Reflux or at the very least an intolerance to spicy, spicy tomato based foods. So while others still might have enjoyed the Chilli, I decided not to tempt my stomach and make something more bland. 'tis all good though.

2. We most always go to Midnight Mass and I dearly love it as our church is the Cathedral and the music is glorious and most of the mass is in Latin and it is beautiful and so spiritual, but again that thing called "AGE". For the past couple of years upon staying up soooooooooo late and deprived of my needed 8 hours of sleep, I wake up Christmas morning and am miserable all day with that old feeling I experienced in days gone by...'ya know when ya had a few too many nips! So we plan this year to go perhaps at the 6-ish hour! again 'tis all good.

3. On Christmas Eve, our Grandson Joe most always reads by flashlight the Nativity Story from the book of Luke and this year he will not get to be here with us, so I will miss that and him more than any of the other traditions. I will ask no one to take his place in carrying out his tradition because it wouldn't be the same. It's ok though because we all know the story and we have it in our hearts.

Now these traditions may return another time and again maybe they won't but it will all be just fine because one of the nicest things about aging is that you obtain a wee bit of wisdom and mine is telling me that the times you set up expectations of what Christmas will or should be like or how hard you try to recapture something exactly as another time are the times you will likely be let down. So in keeping with
that mode of thinking, I am expectantly looking forward to a time of family, good food, laughter, the joys of children being "children" and the Gift of Mercy we all receive from a Savior who came to earth as a wee babe long ago so we could all know Peace and Everlasting Life.

And now there isn't much pink to be found these days in my house because it's all about Red and Green with lots of Gold, but I did manage to find a couple of things to share with you.

Great-Granddaughter Leah in Pink at our Church party...yeppers shezacutie alright!

And looks like mizmollye better get to wrapping these gifts. Whoops don't look Leah I think I see something pink in there for you!

And 'ya reckon we might get enough ICE here in Louisiana to use these beauties? If you said yes...........well Sisters I have some nice Ocean Front Property in Saudi Arabia you might be interested in............................

Yeehaw that was a hoot. Now run on over to How Sweet The Sound for some awesome Pink Saturday places to visit! And for me a new blog to visit last week was Marilyn at Unshelved Words. Go visit her!

Peace and Blessings, mizmollye

  2. You are a wise woman. New traditions are made each year if we can accept the change. In the end, it's the love of family and friends that matter..those we care about..and those that care about us. Merry Christmas Mollye..may it be a blessed one for you..I wish I had some of your chicken n dumplings. It's one of my most favorite foods..and mine just aren't good like my mothers were.I hope yours are wonderful.

Like you said, I think it is wise to roll with the times. We have had to over the years, and it helps to keep Christmas merry! There's always something great to look forward to on Christmas, and I eagerly anticipate it this year.

    Happy Pink Saturday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  5. Hi, Mollye,
Wonderful post!! Little Leah is the sweetest angel of all. Chicken n dumplings sound delicious to me. I am sure you and your family will have the merriest of Christmases because you are so much fun!! I have a stack of presents to wrap, too. That seems to be one of the last things I do every year. 6. Hi Mollye!
Thanks so much for linking to me today. I love your Pink Post! It is so true that when we set up expectations for any day, we set ourselves up for a fall! Every Christmas has its own special flavor. The tradition of your Grandson Joe reading the Christmas Story by candlelight is more than special. Have a beautiful weekend and Merry Christmas from Alabama!!!
    Hugs,
    Marilyn

  10. Oh, my, Leah is most assuredly a CUTIE!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Well, Miss Mollye, I hear ya' on the spicy food . . . I have to be careful there too!!

As, so it's the children's mass, heh? I remember one year we went to the children's mass and it was cute as the youngest ones were dressed up as sheep. They were so sweet. We usually go first thing Christmas morning, the early birds!

Oh, my, remember when mass was all in Latin?!

I can so relate to your comment about expectations . . . the holidays have always been a challenge for me and through the years I have learned to accept what is and just go with the flow! But every Christmas morning I can hear my aunt's voice, this is the day the Lord is born!

I hope you are having a wonderful Pink Saturday.

Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas!

    Hugs,
    Marsha
