GIVE IT NEW LIFE..."COVERITUP"

With the shabby chic look all the rage and more than just a trend everywhere it only makes good sense. Plus you can feel good by being a bit more green.

When baby girl Shari gave me a Womens Bible a fews ago and last year when she and I were beginning our Bible Studies I made a cover for it using canvass, tea dyed cheesecloth, old laces and finished it off with a little vintage baby dress.

I recently began a new Catholic Women's Bible Study and I really needed to be using my Catholic Bible and Catichism and the little paper back Bible I had was falling apart and had been duck taped front and back, so a little make-over was in order this past weekend. First of all I had to reinforce the front and back with chipboard cut to size and a piece for the spine. Then I glued very thin quilt batting to the chipboard for a padded effect. Sorry I didn't think to take pics for you along the way.

I then did a very simple little creative fixit on it but love the results. Sometimes the simplier the better for me. I just used part of a fat quarter of brown and black print and added a tiny piece of coffee dyed canvass with a clear sticker over a tiny little stitched on paper bag and tied it with vintage ribbon and lace. I then made a flower out of a paper bag with a shiny brad in the center and put in a little vintage image of a girl as a book mark and there you have it. New book covers for just the time you spent and whatever you find in your already acquired stash of crafty stuff!

Creativity..............Just ONE of the many little happys that God blessed us with!

Gotta luv it. Happy Monday everyone.

  3. Oh Miz. M. I do love you so. I have been under the weather (on the pot) with a summer virus and have felt terrible. Missed a few post but am catching up today. Love the bible cover and the post about the mustaches is outta sight. Love the Johnny D. pic. You and Punking Darling are just perfect for each other. I like my man with or without a beard. He has not had one for years but when he was younger he was a hottie. I am way behind in a lot of things I have to get done.
