IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK, AND IT QUACKS LIKE A DUCK

It still may not be a Duck...

It could be a "WABBIT"

I have been guilty of judging others based on how they look or what they said or what I've heard and sometimes I'm so off base. Many times the first impression on which I've based an opinion of the person is just not at all what they are like. I guiltily admit to having done that recently regarding Ellen on American Idol and almost refusing to watch and I do watch and she is becoming the ONLY one of the judges I even like at this point!

In the first place, it just is not my place to judge anyone. Even the tiny little private places where you can't see and you don't hear. Because God knows what I've done and he hears that little voice and then I've set myself up to also become a hypocrite. I can sure mess up my good intentions. This week is Holy Week the Holiest of Holy in the Catholic Church and regardless of your religious conviction I'd like to just express to you that for me it is the most special time of the year to focus on Easter and all it means. We're coming out of Lent and the time we spent in examining our consciences and our attempts to become a better person and now this week it is not about us. This is about our Lord only.

Now I have to tell your about my adorable little duck in his rabbit hoodie. You know Friday was my sweet hubby Mike's birthday and he came in from work with a huge pink bag filled with all pastel colors of tissue poking out and I said "Oh the ladies got you a gift in a pink bag" and laughed. And he smiled at me and said, "No, this is a gift for my darlin". I said "Honey, It is YOUR Birthday not mine" and he said "It is my Birthday and the greatest thing I wanted is to give a special gift to you". He had seen this Duck at Hallmark in the mall where he works last week and bought it then to surprise me with. Now do you all see why I cannot stop talking about my Punkin Darlin.

I wish I could put him in action for you (the silly duck wabbit NOT Punkin) cause when you pull him up by his ears, he squalks like Bugs Bunny saying "Put me down, don't pick me up by my ears", and when you press his foot, he dances and sings to The Easter Parade song. I cried when I first saw him perform cause he was so dang charming! You know I can get soooooooo emotional over the strangest things!!!

Judging Others

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (Matthew 7:1-5)

  1. Hi Mollye Sweetie...
I would say that Punkin Darlin is just pretty darn special. You both are to have each other. How sweet for him to buy something for you. Isn't love grand?

I am going to have to go by Hallmark and take a look at this duck if they have one and see just what he does. The little ones would sure love to see it when they come on Easter.

Have a beautiful week my sweet friend. I love you...Sherry

  2. Love your duckwabbit! Yes, it is true Mollye, I have been thinking of that very thing this week, how people make snap judgements based on appearance, or even accent! My Mum always told us, don't judge the book by its cover, and I always try to follow that rule. If I ever sway slightly then I give myself a nudge and examine my thinking. An open mind is always the fairest. Have a lovely week! suzie xxx

That is just about the sweetest and most romantic thing ever!!! Yes, we have always known Punkin Darlin was wonderful but I love to hear your stories about him. He's quite a special man. You are so fortunate to have each other.

And yes, we should not judge others - although it is hard at times. lol

  6. Mollye, I am loving your duck and your sweet husband for being so good to you! He gets big brownie points for being sweet to our/his Mollye! :-)

That is an important scripture, and I like how you used the duck in bunny's clothing as the example of the maxim about judging others. It's funny... I am rarely wrong in my first impression of others, but I try hard to see them as Christ would have me do. He sees us through eyes of love. I try very hard to do that, too, but then when the person does something that I figured they would do, the devil is always quick to say, "You were right. They're a jerk." That's when the rubber really has to meet the road, and we have to pray for those who do us wrong. Because none of us are perfect. I hate to think how imperfect I am!

Loved this and love you. See you when I get back...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  7. Boy did this speak to me. I too decided not to watch American Idol because Ellen would be on the panel. Shame on me for judging her. God loves all of us sinners, and we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Thank you for reminding me that I have that board in my eye.
    Blessings to you!
p.s. Love the bunny/duck. Your hubby is a sweetheart!

  8. so true, your words, mollye girl. it's mighty easy to judge, isn't it? and that scripture nails it. also, the one (paraphrasing) where Jesus tells those who are without sin to cast the first stone.

thanks for the reminder. His word will not return void.

i love, love, love your wabbit!! what a terrific hubby you got yourself there! a mighty fine punkin darlin' indeed!

    hugs,
