JUST GIRL TIME

Every now and then just nothing will do a body good quite like a little girl time. Wouldn't you all agree?

Lori, Shari and I took off this morning for a day trip to Natchitoches, LA which is about 65 miles south of us and our plan was to tour Melrose Plantation above all. But we never even considered it would be closed on Monday! So we plan to go back down there and go through every nook and cranny of Melrose Plantation and the story of Melrose is just so fascinating and I want to take lots of pictures for you when we go.

But we still had a great time. We explored some little gift shoppes and the oldest hardware/mercantile store in Louisiana. And I bought this

and this little giftie which has post-it notes inside with the initial K on each sheet for my next door neighbor Kay who has shown me the love.

And we ate lunch at Laysone's Famous Meat Pie place and drove up and down the Cane River and looked at lots of little former slave quarters still being lived in! and by that time ... well we had to make a little pit stop on our way out of town and next door was another restaurant touting the best Bread Pudding ever, so well I'm just saying who could resist. So in we went and sat out on the deck overlooking the Cane River and were told they were OUT of bread pudding today so we all got something else and a cup of dark roast Louisiana Creole coffee and it was time to come on back.

Wouldn't you love to have a little art studio or hobby get-a-way like this charming little retreat?

I'm so thankful to have two girls who love each other and care so much about their momma too. We have such fun together.

Oh yes and my boy Buddy is coming in this weekend from Mobile to visit us.

Love you all, Mizmollye and Punkin too!

  1. I just found your blog, looks like a great place, so... I am now a follower. I would love to have that little place as an art studio! God Bless you and may God carry you through these years without Jake. I lost my only Daughter and know how hard it can be. Have fun with Buddy this weekend!

    Sincerely,

    Diane

  3. Miz M. I adore a good bread pudding too. If it wasn't for my expanding thighs, I would go mix up a batch right now. Your girls are wonderful and you deserve them. I am glad you liked the little lady, I had fun making her. Your grand baby Luke looks so sweet. I do adore them at that stage. I would love to cart him around on my hips and give him lots of hugs and kisses.

Glad you were able to spend the day with your friends, you look like you were enjoying yourself. Bread pudding yum! Did it have some good Kentucky Bourbon sauce on it?
    Love to you,

  15. These could not be your daughters, when I read this in one of the comments. I thought now Mollye is going to be offended for someone to think her friends are her daughters. You are lookin young here, Girlie!

  17. What fun to be with your girls, Mollye! And you look like one of their sisters. Girl, you just don't age at ALL! Lookin' good, girlfriend, and they are adorable, too.

Louisiana bread pudding. I would drive all the way there for some with the good kind of "hard sauce". Isn't that what it's called? I love Natchitoches, but I haven't toured Melrose, either. I just love Louisiana period.

    Love you, too!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
