The big day is here to reveal what we decided to create from our sweet image and my sis blogger Anitra had sent me two of the coolest little vinyl cigar boxes to play with. I used wallpaper pages to cover the box and ironed the image on tea dyed muslin and then stitched it to the wallpaper. I started this little project a few weeks ago but had not finished it when my life was turned upside down from the so unexpected and tragic death of my son last week.

But I thought it might help me begin to get back to some sort of normalcy by blogging about a subject completely unrelated to death. I will post the completed purse when I one day finish it. I do plan to add some fringe and other little elements. I am anxious to soon visit all of you and see what you have made.

Be sure to click on the link at my sidebar to see what all the fuss is about and what everyone else created on their Rush assignment!

Love you sisters!

This was the image we were given to create anything we wanted. No Rules!

So I decided to make a purse with mine to take on our Boston vacation. However, I must tell you that we have canceled our trip to Boston but I had an amazing time in planning it and almost feel as if I have been there!

(PS.... the hairy knuckles belong to my hubby; Punkin Darlin who always agrees to help me!)
I'm sorry girls I am not quite all there yet so I had to re-read the instructions and saw I was supposed to post my picture for our newer sisters. So this is me with the stuff I like!

  1. You are SO talented, Mollye! That is so cute. I think it is a master stroke to make it into a purse. So glad to see you blogging today. Sending you warm hugs...

I think it is wonderful that you have done this post, it must help to try to get a feeling of something normal, as I know it feels as if the floor has been pulled from beneath you.
On a brighter note, I am so glad to hear that those knuckles are not yours! Lots of love to you now and always! Love from Suzie xxxxxxxxxx

So very sorry for your loss. I pray that the love of your beautiful family, and the support of your many friends help to heal your broken heart.

Your project is lovely and I am so pleased to meet you throught the Sorority!

  44. Hi, from New Jersey! Love your take on the photo. What a cute purse. Enjoy the rest of the party!

  45. Dear Miss Mollye, I just read your comment on Pretty In Pink...and had to stop by your blog. I am so sorry for your loss...your Jake was obviously a very special young man, and it is a tragedy that he passed so young. I understand your broken heart too well. Today marks 4 months since my husband of 35 years, Joe, was killed in a traffic accident. I have spent the morning feeling lost...miss him so bad. Just like Joe, your Jake had the incredible gift of a loving family and I can almost see him in his "heaven's pajamas". I think Joe's sitting in the shade somewhere...and he has Buck, his yellow lab, by his side. Maybe they can look each other up. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. *elaine*

  46. I'm shocked to read of your loss of a dear, dear son. This hits home really close to my heart since I have a son nearly your son's age. It can all happen in a blink of an eye. I feel for you, and for your family. Tho, the sadness will linger so will the best memories of his youth, his life with you and loved ones.

  47. I'm so sorry that our paths have crossed at such a sad time for you. Please know that I and all your sorority sisters are thinking of you. xx

  48. Hi Mollye,
I love your little purse! Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved son. My prayers are with you.

  49. Mollye, the purse you made is so cute. Been thinking about you alot lately and hope you and you family are doing better. Love you sweet lady!

  50. I just read your wonderful tribute to your precious son and my heart is so heavy for you. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you are in and have been through. I do believe that he is with the Lord and that God is holding him in His arms. I will hold you up in prayer. God Bless your whole family.

Your Sorority Sister purse is so beautiful and such a unique idea. I just love it. I am also so proud to have you for a sister. Love you. Hugs, Marty

  51. Oh, heart aches for you! I have a son the same age as your Jake, and we know there is simply nothing worse that could ever happen to us than losing our child. I wish I was a true sister to you who was right there and could wrap you up in an enormous hug. You're brave to have shared this with us and I'm sure I speak for all the sisters in saying our prayers are coming to you in great waves of love! Please take good care of yourself...I'll keep checking in for when you're ready to post again.

    I love you already, too...
