SORORITY RUSH DAY

The big day is here to reveal what we decided to create from our sweet image and my sis blogger Anitra had sent me two of the coolest little vinyl cigar boxes to play with. I used wallpaper pages to cover the box and ironed the image on tea dyed muslin and then stitched it to the wallpaper. I started this little project a few weeks ago but had not finished it when my life was turned upside down from the so unexpected and tragic death of my son last week.

But I thought it might help me begin to get back to some sort of normalcy by blogging about a subject completely unrelated to death. I will post the completed purse when I one day finish it. I do plan to add some fringe and other little elements. I am anxious to soon visit all of you and see what you have made.

Be sure to click on the link at my sidebar to see what all the fuss is about and what everyone else created on their Rush assignment!

Love you sisters!

This was the image we were given to create anything we wanted. No Rules!

So I decided to make a purse with mine to take on our Boston vacation. However, I must tell you that we have canceled our trip to Boston but I had an amazing time in planning it and almost feel as if I have been there!

(PS.... the hairy knuckles belong to my hubby; Punkin Darlin who always agrees to help me!)
I'm sorry girls I am not quite all there yet so I had to re-read the instructions and saw I was supposed to post my picture for our newer sisters. So this is me with the stuff I like!

  3. Hello Mollye my sweet friend. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me despite all you are going through! I think it is wonderful that you have done this post, it must help to try to get a feeling of something normal, as I know it feels as if the floor has been pulled from beneath you.
On a brighter note, I am so glad to hear that those knuckles are not yours! Lots of love to you now and always! Love from Suzie xxxxxxxxxx

  9. Oh, Sweetie, I LOVE what you did with the box--it's wonderful!

And I swear, we must be related. I didn't use that photo on any of my purses, but I did use another one. I'll post it, so you can see.

By the way, how do you know so many Oklahoma Parkers? My Mom is an Okie Parker!

I'm thinking of you every single day, and holding you and your family up in prayer, and sending love from Oregon. So is Mama.

  32. Love what you've done with a simple little cigar box! It's beautiful!.. I'm afraid I was not able to participate as I never could find anyone to hook my printer up, or at least print the photo for me.. Very disappointing, but maybe I can still try to do something later, if I can get my daughter's boyfriend to help me out with it... I am so very sorry to hear about your son Jake. I cannot imagine your pain right now, but my heart goes out to you, and my prayers are with you. ((hugs)) ~tina

  45. Dear Miss Mollye, I just read your comment on Pretty In Pink...and had to stop by your blog. I am so sorry for your loss...your Jake was obviously a very special young man, and it is a tragedy that he passed so young. I understand your broken heart too well. Today marks 4 months since my husband of 35 years, Joe, was killed in a traffic accident. I have spent the morning feeling lost...miss him so bad. Just like Joe, your Jake had the incredible gift of a loving family and I can almost see him in his "heaven's pajamas". I think Joe's sitting in the shade somewhere...and he has Buck, his yellow lab, by his side. Maybe they can look each other up. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. *elaine*

  46. I'm shocked to read of your loss of a dear, dear son. This hits home really close to my heart since I have a son nearly your son's age. It can all happen in a blink of an eye. I feel for you, and for your family. Tho, the sadness will linger so will the best memories of his youth, his life with you and loved ones.
